  • Hematology: Biochemical analysis of blood, chemical and microscopic analysis of urine, stool, phlegm, exudates, transudates, prostatic fluid, breast secretions, gynecological and urological swabs, sperm, etc
  • Immunology: Immune cell phenotyping, immunoglobulin A, M, G and E count, phagotest, viral infection diagnosis, thyroid and reproductive hormone levels’ measurement
  • Biochemistry: More than 60 routine tests, including liver fibrosis stage tests and other studies of general liver diseases, Fibromax and Fibrotest studies, Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and Glutathione peroxidase (GPX) activity measurements

Clinical Research

The lab integrates novel techniques for diagnosing anemia (ferritin and B12 levels) and cardiovascular diseases (troponin 1 test) with the help of paramagnetic particle–based ELISA with chemiluminescent detection. Reversed phase HPLC with precolumn derivatisation is used to detect homocysteine, cysteine and free amino acids in patients with chronic hepatitis C. These studies are the foundation for diagnosing severe viral hepatitis, renal and liver failures, complications from stomach resection and organ transplants, lymphoblastic leucosis, non-insulin-dependent diabetes, neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases in the near future.

The lab conducted a number of clinical studies, including Semaks neuropeptide in volunteers (2002), Khophytol preparation in patients with infectious hepatitis (2005) and hyperhomocysteinemia during chronic hepatitis C (2006), and several influenza vaccines:

  • Live attenuated cold–adapted intranasal influenza vaccine VeroVac based on Vero cells, 1999–2001
  • Controlled prospective randomized trials of Grifor split inactivated influenza vaccine (Phases II and III), 2007–2008
  • Placebo–controlled prospective randomized trials of pandemic A/H1N1 influenza vaccines (Phases I and II), 2009:
    • Influvir — live monovalent influenza vaccine in lyophilized state for soluble intranasal administration, A/17/California/2009/38(H1N1) strain
    • Pandeflu — inactivated subunit adsorbed monovalent influenza vaccine in suspension for intramuscular injection, A/California/7/2009 (HIN1)v strain
